How To Install .sims3pack Files - How To Install .package Files - Installing On A Mac
How To Install .sim3pack Files
Double click on your .sim3pack file (this file does not need to be in any particular folder) and The Sims 3 Launcher will open and install the file for you. Once complete it will tell you it was successful. You should now see the download in the "installed content" tab. You can now use the new content in game - if the launcher opens and nothing happens, then the mod is not compatible with your game version or expansion packs.

How To Install .package Files
Go to your Sims 3 folder located at My Documents -> Electronic Arts -> The Sims 3

Right click on a blank area and create a new folder by going to New -> folder

Call the new folder "Mods"

Download resource.cfg from http://www.worldofsims3.com/resource and place the file in your newly created Mods folder.

Create another folder inside your Mods folder and call it "Packages"

Place your .package files in this folder
First you will need an "Un-zipper" here is one made specifically for mac: http://www.zipeg.com/downloads/zipeg-setup.exe
secondly download this: http://chii.modthesims.info/getfile.php?file=927170
Extract the file into a place you will remember!
1. Find The Sims 3 game icon, which is probably in your Applications folder. Right click on it, and select, "Show Package Contents.
2. If this option is not showing up, you're probably clicking on a short-cut game icon, and not the original. If you have The Sims 3 in your Dock, right click on the icon from the dock and select "Show in Finder". This will bring you to the original.
3. Choosing "Show Package Contents" will open up a window with another folder. Navigate through the folders in this order:
Contents -> Resources -> transgaming -> c_drive -> Program Files -> Electronic Arts -> The Sims 3.
Once you get to this location, drag and drop your Resource.cfg file into this folder.
4. In the same folder you just placed the Resource file, select File > New Folder from the Finder menu. Label this new folder Mods, and double-click it. Inside the Mods folder, create a second folder called Packages.
5. Now go download some custom content! If you're getting a web page full of gibberish when you try to download a RAR file, you may have to right click (or Ctrl+Click) on the download link and select "Download Linked File" or "Save Target As".
After downloading custom content, extract it in Zipeg just like you did with the Resource file. It should become a .package file.
Drag and drop the custom content .package files inside the new folder you created called Packages, and you're done!
